Temporary Homeless Accommodation Programme

Accommodation and Protection Programme for Individuals or Families in Socio-Economic Need

Beneficiaries of the accommodation and protection programme are individuals or families residing in the Municipality of Corinth who are living in conditions of poverty.

The Municipality’s action plan foresees collaboration between the Department of Social Protection and the Holy Metropolis of Corinth, the Corinth Police Department, the General Hospital of Corinth, the Center for Abused Women of the Municipality of Corinth, as well as other voluntary or governmental bodies and the Department of Cleaning & Civil Protection. The aim is to identify and register homeless individuals who may not yet be recorded, through on-site social surveys conducted by a Social Worker from the Department of Social Protection (or another Social Worker who has prepared a relevant Social Report), followed by immediate registration.

The implementation of the action plan is the responsibility of the Working Group for the Support of Homeless People or Individuals/Families in Emergency Situations, who require immediate accommodation in a central hotel within the city.

Homeless individuals or families in emergency situations who are hosted or in need of meal services must be either:

  • Already registered with the Department of Social Protection of the Municipality of Corinth, or

  • Registered on-site following notification to the Department regarding unregistered individuals requiring immediate assistance.

The aim of temporary accommodation is to support the reintegration of individuals or families who are facing an urgent housing crisis and who lack the necessary financial or social resources—even on a temporary basis—depending on their specific circumstances. The need for accommodation must be confirmed in a Social Worker’s Report, which is filed with the Department of Social Protection and certified by the Working Group.

Each hosted person or family must sign an Individual Accommodation Agreement, which is also filed with the Department. Failure to comply with the terms of this agreement may result in removal from the hotel where they have been accommodated.
