CENTRE FOR THE PREVENTION OF ADDICTIONS & PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALTH PROMOTION - DIOLKOS
The Centre for the Prevention of Addictions and Promotion of Psychosocial Health “DIOLKOS”, implements prevention programmes, based on the philosophy of education and health promotion, and seeks to raise awareness of the local community’s institutions and citizens, in order to activate them in the fight for prevention.
The programmes developed by the Prevention Centre are aimed at:
⦁ To parents
⦁ To students and adolescents
⦁ To conscripts
⦁ To sports clubs and groups
⦁ Professionals who come into direct contact with the problem (teachers, coaches, police, health professionals, priests, military, etc.)
⦁ Special population groups (returnees, refugees, minority groups, prisoners, etc.)
⦁ In the wider community
Its objectives, depending on the group addressed and the duration of the intervention, are:
⦁ Empowering, supporting and educating young people to adopt a positive attitude towards life and develop skills to resist the use of addictive substances and other addictive behaviours (gambling, internet, etc.).
⦁ Counselling and support for the family in order to strengthen the parental role and improve communication.
⦁ Raising awareness of teachers on prevention issues, strengthening their pedagogical role and strengthening teacher-student relations.
⦁ Informing stakeholders about existing treatment programmes
⦁ Informing, raising awareness and mobilising the wider community

MOBILE UNIT KETHEA
The Mobile Information Unit is the only one in the entire Peloponnese region with the mission to support people with drug, alcohol, internet, and gambling problems, as well as their families. It will operate mainly in non-urban areas, facilitating access to services and referral to more specialised help.
The Unit offers services:
⦁ Consultation and mobilisation
⦁ Awareness-raising
⦁ Short-term intervention
⦁ Referrals to specialist services such as mental health units, therapeutic communities, etc.
It operates through:
⦁ Community information and awareness-raising interventions in urban and non-urban areas,
⦁ Prevention and early intervention actions for specific population groups, such as students, teachers, parents, etc.
⦁ Interventions for counselling and mobilisation of street-work addicts
⦁ Collaboration with health and social care structures, such as hospitals, health centres, mental health centres, social services) for the referral of addicts
⦁ Cooperation with services such as educational institutions, judicial authorities, penitentiaries, security forces, etc., for the more comprehensive treatment of the phenomenon of addictions.
