Transfer of voting rights (where I vote) from the Municipality of … to the Municipality of Corinth.
What do I need?
The necessary documents to be submitted by the applicant are, where applicable, the following:
The procedure concerns the relocation of a citizen who is registered in another Municipality of Greece, resides in the Municipality of Korinthia for at least the last two (2) years and wishes to be registered in the Municipal Registers of the Municipality of Korinthia. The two years of permanent residence required for the transfer is proven by a certificate of the Mayor issued in accordance with the provisions of Article 279 (Article 15(7) of Law 3463/2009, as amended by Article 43 of Law 5027/2023).
1 ) Application – Declaration of Responsibility via gov.gr with text:
“Please accept my application for transfer from the Municipality of… to the Municipality of Corinth due to my two-year permanent residence.”
and obligatory fields:
Surname, First Name, First Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Resident, Street, Date of Birth.
In case of incomplete completion, the application will not be accepted. A separate application is required for each adult member.
2) Certificate of permanent residence.
3) Identity document (double-sided identity card or passport or driving licence).
The procedure concerns the relocation of one of the two spouses or cohabitees to the municipality of registration of the other spouse or cohabitee.

“Please accept my request to move from the Municipality of … to the Municipality of Corinth and register me in the family register of my spouse or partner with the following details(Surname, Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Resident, Street, Date of Birth) “
and mandatory fields:
A. Please fill in the following fields: last name, first name, first name, father’s name, mother’s name, resident, street, date of birth.
2) Identity document (double-sided identity card, passport or driving licence).
The procedure concerns the transfer of a citizen to the municipality in which he/she was originally registered at birth, either by himself/herself or by his/her parents. This right may be exercised by the citizen in one go.
1 ) Application – Declaration of Responsibility via gov.gr with text:
“Please accept my request to move from the Municipality of… to the Municipality of Corinth. I am making a one-time use of my right to repatriate in order to acquire the original popularity of myself or my parents in the Municipality of Korinthia, as provided for by the provisions of paragraph 3c of Article 8 of the Decree Law 497/991 (Government Gazette 180A) “Code of Decrees on the Municipalities”.”

Surname, First Name, First Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Resident, Street, Date of Birth.
If the right to recover original popularity arises from the parents of the applicant, complete the full details of the parent with the original popularity in the Municipality of Corinth.
In case of incomplete completion, the application will not be accepted.
2) Identity document (double-sided identity card, passport or driving licence).
Candidates for regional governors and regional councillors who are not residents of a municipality in the region where they are interested in being elected are given the opportunity to migrate in order to stand for election in that region, without the two-year residence requirement.
It is noted that:
– No relocation is required for a candidate who is a resident of a constituency other than the one where he/she will run as a regional councillor, if these constituencies belong to the same region, e.g. a resident of Tripoli (Peloponnese constituency) can run in any constituency (e.g. the regional unit of Corinth, Tripoli, Laconia, Argolida, Messinia) of the Peloponnese region.
– A candidate for regional mayor or regional councillor who is not a resident of a municipality in the region where he or she is interested in being elected may move to any municipality in the region in order to stand for election.
1) Application – Declaration via gov.gr which is submitted to the municipality where he wishes to relocate. In this application, the interested party must explicitly state that he will run for the regional unit of Chania to which the municipality of Chania spatially belongs and for this reason he asks for registration in the demotolition of the municipality.

In case of incomplete completion, the application will not be accepted.
If there are minor children, their citizenship is re-determined by submitting responsible declarations from both parents, regardless of the reason for the parent’s migration and regardless of the existing citizenship of the minors.
According to the established legislation, the possibility of relocation is provided in the following cases:
α. at least two years’ permanent residence in the municipality where he/she is standing for election,
β. one of the cohabiting spouses wishes to gain the popularity of the other cohabiting spouse,
γ. the initial popularity that he or his parents had (a one-time-only option)
d. In cases where none of the above reasons apply, candidates may apply for a transfer in order to stand as follows:
- in any municipality of a county, provided that they are currently registered in a demographic register or Register of Residents or electoral list of any other municipality of the same county,
- in any municipality of a prefecture, provided that they were previously registered in the demotic register or the Register of Boys or the electoral list of any other municipality of the same prefecture.
1) Application – Declaration via gov.gr which is submitted to the municipality where he wishes to relocate.In this application, the interested party must explicitly state that he will run for the municipality of Chania and for this reason he asks for registration in the demographics of the municipality.

In case of incomplete completion, the application will not be accepted.
- For the transfer due to two years of permanent residence, a certificate of permanent residence according to article 279 of the KΔK is also required, showing the applicant’s two-year permanent residence in the district of the municipality to which he/she wishes to transfer.
- For other cases of relocation, the required documents are sought ex officio by the competent official of the demographic office.
- In the case of relocation due to the recovery of the original popularity of the person or his/her parents, a declaration of one-time use of this right is required.
- If there are minor children, their citizenship is re-determined by submitting responsible declarations from both parents, regardless of the reason for the parent’s migration and regardless of the existing citizenship of the minors.

Certificates of all types, as well as civil registry acts, can be searched ex officio by our service, based on the provisions of Law 3242/2OO4 and Law 3448/2006 “on ex officio search” as long as the events (marriages, births, deaths) have taken place in Greece. The ex officio search does not apply to acts concerning the Special Registry of Athens.
