I need to know

Apart from the next of kin of the deceased, the following persons have the right to apply for the issue or issue of a copy of the certificate:

  1. Heir by will whether or not he is a next of kin.

  2. Lawyers and notaries will have to establish their legitimate interest after written authorisation from their clients.

  3. Another person on behalf of the person directly concerned with an authorisation which should explicitly state that the applicant has the right to request the certificate. The authorization should be certified as to the authenticity of the signature of the principal by a public municipal authority, or a C.E.P., in accordance with Law 1599/1986 (and not by a notary or a lawyer).
