The Day Care Centre for the Elderly K.H.F.H.
Act: ‘Day Care Centre for the Elderly of the Municipality (KIFI) of the Municipality of Corinth with code 6003021 in the Peloponnese 2021-2027 programme’ concerns the continuation of the operation of Day Care Centres for the Elderly. It is included in the Operational Programme “Peloponnese 2021-2027”.
The Action is co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF)
This particular operation concerns the provision, by the Day Care Centre for the Elderly of the Municipality of Korinthia, of day care services to elderly people who are not able to fully self-serve and whose relatives who care for them work or face serious social and financial problems or health problems and are unable to cope with this task.
This structure is installed and operates in a site owned by the Municipality of Corinth, which is located at 51, Periandrou Street in Corinth.
The capacity to serve 15 elderly people. Based on the specifications and institutional framework provided by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the centre has the following premises:
- Reception-recreation-meeting room
- Nursing office
- Rest area –
- Breakfast – lunch preparation
- Special service and storage area – Sanitary facilities
The opening hours are daily Monday to Friday from 08.00 – 16.00 during the winter and summer months.
The operation is addressed to elderly people and concerns the provision of services a. nursing care by a nurse b. individual support from 2 welfare officers or social carers; and c. cleaning and ancillary work by auxiliary staff.
SERVICES
More specifically, the services provided per area of responsibility/specialty are : The interventions of the nurse-midwife in the HCPs are aimed at improving the quality of life of the elderly as they perceive it, as long as they are able, and at meeting their basic needs. The care provided must be physical, mental, intellectual, emotional and, when necessary, spiritual with the contribution of a specialist worker.
The above approach includes: Β. In the Personal Support/Social Carers/Welfare Officers Sector: The work of the social carers/welfare officers involves the provision of individual support to the beneficiaries based on their needs. In particular, this is divided into :
- Reception – filling in the application form – Personal hygiene, cleaning – Support in taking medication – Support in transportation – Transport – movement – escort – Tasks assigned by the person in charge of the centre or by the competent department of the Municipality of Korinthia C. In the Cleaning and Auxiliary Work Sector/Auxiliary Staff: The work of the auxiliary staff concerns the development of cleaning and auxiliary tasks.
More specifically, this is distinguished in: – Cleaning work indoors – Cleaning work outdoors – Auxiliary tasks assigned by the manager of the center or by the corresponding department of the Municipality of Corinth.
The KIFH aims to keep the elderly in their familiar physical and social environment, to maintain family cohesion, to harmonise the family and working life of family members with an elderly member, to avoid institutional care and social exclusion, to ensure dignified living and to improve the quality of life of the elderly and other family members.
