The Municipal Library of Corinth was founded in 1962 as a N.P.D.D. (Presidential Decree of
F.E.K. 19 vol.A.). Since 1984, it has been part of the newly established N.P. with the name “Cultural and
Educational Center of the Municipality of Corinth”. Since June 16, 2011, it has been part of the new N.P.D.D. with the name “CENTRE FOR
CULTURE, SPORTS, AND ENVIRONMENT OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CORINTH” The library was temporarily housed in various municipal and private buildings. Since 2001, it has been relocated to a privately owned building at 84 Pylarinos Street in the
City of Corinth. The core of the first book collection was created with donations from private collections. Since 1985, when the Library began its effective operation, it was enriched with a large
donation of 5,000 books and periodicals from “Angeliki Chira Spyros Bouki”. Since then, the collections have been supplemented with purchases of printed and
audiovisual material, as well as donations from individual donors who are friends of the Library.
